Understanding Shifts In your Life

Have you ever had one of those days, when everything is going in your favor? You feel the blessings chasing after you all day long, and all of a sudden, the joy and positive attitude starts to fade for some reason. That can happen at the drop of a hat. When this happens I like to find a quiet place to sit down and think about any reason that could have shifted the atmosphere. As a matter of fact, this happened to me this week. I have had a great week filled with joy, love from family and friends, but without me realizing it, I remembered this is the week of my anniversary , and my late husband's birthday. It's been ten years since his passing. and usually I will post a birthday wish on my Facebook page, but this year I decided not to post the happy heavenly birthday on my page. For me it was like a day of silence, a day of reflection, and remembrance, I didn't want to share my day with the world. I didn't spend the whole day reflecting, but it was enough time to overcome the feelings I was experiencing. This milestone anniversary created the shift without me being aware of my feelings throughout the day, or  week.  Last night, I started to get sad again, and couldn't understand why, then this morning more sadness was overtaking me. I sat quietly, asking God what is the matter with me? In that quiet time, God impressed gently upon my heart that my sadness was coming from the longing of what I once had. There is a significant loss that has been experienced, and the memories that are held will never dissipate, they resurrect during times like this, birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings and the list can go on and on.

If you experience sudden shifts in emotions like this, take time to figure out what will help you through it. Take time to understand your emotions, and feelings. Having a journal to write your thoughts and feeling is a good place to start. I would recommend purchasing one, it's very important to get those emotions out, and understand the root of where they started.  I picked up my journal and started to write, I needed to get out everything I was feeling on the inside, and it did make me feel much better, and I was able to go on with my day. Self-awareness is a critical key for success in life. Communication is the second critical key.  You don't  have to always finds someone to communicate with, sometimes you just need a little heart to heart with yourself, with no judgement or fear that what you are going through will get to the ears of someone else. Don't go around feeling some kind of way, and not doing anything about it. Allow yourself to live in freedom, not bondage! Let go, and get to know who you really are, and that will put you on a journey to freedom. -DK-
