Finding Joy In the Midst of the Season

The holiday season can be a beautiful time, but very hard to navigate emotionally. We're surrounded by joy and celebration, yet if you've experienced loss this year whether a loved one, a friend, a job, or even a cherished relationship- you might find it difficult to find that same joy.

It's important to pause and reflect, and ask yourself what do you really feel about the season.  Do you love celebrating Christmas? if so, what does it mean to you? Is it about buying gifts, showing loved ones thoughtful gestures or simply being present with those who matter most? Sometimes the most thoughtful gift isn't bought it's a heartfelt letter expressing what someone means to you. Words of love and gratitude can be more powerful than anything wrapped in paper.

If you're grieving the loss of someone dear consider writing them a letter. Share what they meant to you, the love you wished you would have expressed, your love, or the memories you hold close. Writing can be a way to release sadness, honor their  place in your life, and bring  peace to your heart.

The season can weigh heavily when we feel we are supposed to feel joy, but aren't. That's why it is best to return to the true reason why we celebrate: The gift of Jesus Christ's birth.  We give gifts in honor of the greatest gift we received.  Gratitude can transform sorrow into strength, and remembering the reason for Christmas can rekindle the love we feel we are missing. Take time to acknowledge your emotions, embrace them, and gently guide yourself toward joy. Even in loss there is room for hope, love, and renewal.  Happy Holidays.
